Current situation
Nexi Payments used to offer payment acquiring services through its corporate sales network via a paper-based and largely manual process. Alternatively, the merchant had to walk into one of the affiliated banks. In both cases, the process was burdensome for the acquirer and the merchant had to wait 4-6 weeks to be able to accept electronic payments.

What have we done?
Thanks to our KYC consulting service and our experience in Digital Onboarding and Strong Customer Authentication we have designed a digital, low cost, fast and intuitive acquiring process addressed to small and medium sized merchants.
We structured the end-to-end digital process, created the business requirements for the IT department, structured the customer support functions and performed project management functions during the implementation phase. We were given full responsibility of the project.
The process is flexible enough to allow the merchant to digitally onboard directly with the acquirer (Nexi) or through an affiliated bank that resells acquiring services.

The Digital Onboarding process at a glance
The merchant onboards in 15 minutes during a single online session. The merchant can put the session on-hold and resume it where it was interrupted several times.
The document set required from the merchant is minimal resulting in a simple and quick process to maximize conversion. An Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) certificate is used, but due extra security provided by our clever process structure, AgID – the Italian digital Authority – labels it as a Qualified Remote Signature. This implies that in the event of a dispute, the merchant must prove that the acquirer is faulty, not vice-versa.

Deliverables
The digital onboarding process allows the merchant to accept payments within 2 days
The digital On-Boarding process is live since March 2017, has delivered and continues to deliver a large increase in onboarded merchants (+250% per year over the last 3 years).
